The Credit Union Spark Centre in Weyburn featured their second Saturday of fun science experiments on Saturday morning, with the theme, "Eww, that science is gross!" The children made 'snot', and burp in a bag with fun experiments. The class will be held on Saturday, Jan. 22, with the theme, "Investigate it", and on Saturday, Jan. 29, the theme is "Science meets art", where kids can use shadows, colour, motion and light to create art from science.

The Weyburn Red Wings made alternate plans on Saturday after their two road games were postponed due to COVID concerns with their opponents, Notre Dame and Yorkton. They had a skate with the Bantam Wings in the morning, and went to the outdoor rink at the Credit Union Spark Centre for a skate with anyone who wanted to join them on the ice.

The Weyburn Concert Series presented Bobby Bruce and the Solitary Band (Nearly Neil) for an evening performance of Neil Diamond favourites on Thursday evening at the Cugnet Centre. The sold-out concert featured many of Diamond's top songs throughout his lengthy career.

The first of four STEM classes, to be held every Saturday at the Credit Union Spark Centre in Weyburn, was held with the theme of "Candy Chemistry" on Saturday morning. Children did a variety of experiments using Skittles and mints to explore such science topics as buoyancy, solubility and reactivity.

The first nice break from extreme cold temperatures and high wind chill arrived on Sunday, and families were out enjoying the relatively mild -9 temperature for sledding, skating or snowmobiling in Weyburn. The sledding hill on Confederation Drive near River Park was crowded as families enjoyed the last day of the Christmas break before school resumed on Monday morning at Weyburn and area schools.

Weyburn had a dump of around 6.3 mm of snow on Boxing day into Monday, clogging up city streets, and city crews were kept busy for a couple of days cleaning up the mess

Weyburn area residents were able to enjoy sledding on the hill on Confederation Drive or go skating on the new outdoor rink at the Credit Union Spark Centre over the holidays prior to the arrival of the extreme cold air this week
