The Battlefords will be hosting the 2011 Saskatchewan Law Enforcement Hockey Tournament. The tournament will take place Jan. 13 to 14, with games being played in both the Civic Centre in North Battleford and the Battleford Arena in Battleford.

Dylan Smith got his first set of wheels when he was only four. His first set of bicycle wheels, that is. Since then, the Regina student has continuously pushed himself to be the best. "I've always been competitive on my bike," he said.

Golf is a hobby for many in the Battlefords and area, but for one man, golf is a passion.

It was a bittersweet end to the baseball season for the Bruno Merchants.The Merchants placed second at the 2010 Men's Western Canadian Fastpitch Championships.The tournament was held August 12-15 in Irma, Alberta.

Tuesday night all four football field's saw tough football action. In a high scoring affair, the Huskies beat the Headhunters 39-26. Another high-scoring, but lopsided game had the Rhinos beating the Razorbacks 42-0.

It may seem early for AA peewee, bantam and midget camps since no other centres are at that stage yet, but the Battlefords Minor Hockey Association held their camps on the weekend to mark the beginning of the AA hockey season.

Gulp! The Saskatchewan Roughriders were forced to swallow their pride Saturday night after coughing up a 14-0 lead and losing 17-14 to the cellar-dwelling Edmonton Eskimos before a CFL season-high crowd of 47,829 fans.

Though their team did not make it to Westerns, some of the Humboldt Dodgers did.

Senior and amateur golfers alike have been honing their skills at the North Battleford golf courses and last week they took those skills out of town to compete with golfers from across the province.

SEPTEMBER 3 North Battleford Comprehensive High School Vikings will play their first football game of the season. The Vikings will host Marion Graham at 6:30 p.m. at Beaver Lions Stadium.
