The Yorkton Cardinals had a four-game winning streak heading into action Monday night against Melville. Melville won that game by a 6-1 final, snapping the Cardinals streak.

The Yorkton United F.C. U14 Fury found some time to play some soccer in between the rain in recent weeks. The team traveled to Saskatoon the weekend of June 4-6 to take part in the Harder Avalon Classic Soccer Tournament.

Native of Yorkton and motocross racer Denaye Giroux took second overall in the Western Women's Canadian National this past weekend in Calgary riding aboard her Schrader's Yamaha 250F. She charged through the pack after a poor start in the first moto.

Saturday was National Canoe Day across Canada.The Yorkton Canoe and Kayak Club celebrated by holding an open house at York Lake. For only $2, the public was welcome to test out a kayak or canoe, and their upper arm strength.

The Yorkton Bulldogs have had a rough season leading up to Saturday's finale at Kinsmen Arena but it came to an end the way coach Joe Choptuik was hoping it would.

Dr. Trevor Hove, a chiropractor in Yorkton, competed at Crossfit Regina (www.crossfitregina.com) on the May long weekend in the spring Saskatchewan Crossfit Challenge, placing third in Division I.

The Yorkton Tennis Club has released its weekly schedule for 2010. All club activities will take place at the Western Development Museum courts. Play begins on Tuesday evenings with ladies play from 5-7 p.m.

Thirteen athletes from the KEES Yorkton Taekwondo club participated Saturday, June 12 at the first Annual Iron Fist Taekwondo Club Challenge in Winnipeg. The event was hosted by Iron Fist Taekwondo.

The Yorkton Cardinals are coming off an impressive triumph over the division's first place club in Regina, a 12-4 win (See Page C1 for details).
