The Saskatchewan Teacher鈥檚 Federation verified on July 29 that the province鈥檚 teachers won鈥檛 be delegated to function in this year鈥檚 provincial election in the autumn of 2020.
鈥淚 spoke directly to the Ministry of Education, the Chief Electoral Officer and school boards to affirm that teachers will not be mandated or assigned to work the election,鈥� said Randy Schmaltz, Executive Director, Saskatchewan Teachers鈥� Federation.
鈥淓ach organization has provided confirmation there is no intent to assign teachers to work at polling stations,鈥� Schmaltz added.
While school divisions are providing admittance to schools for polling stations this year, this won鈥檛 include access to teachers.
Elections Saskatchewan will be responsible for suitable cleaning and disinfecting actions before students and staff return to the province鈥檚 schools after the election.
