Tastes and aromas of Weyburn's Flavours of Fall are back

This is a major fundraiser for the Weyburn Ag Society, to assist with ongoing costs of repairs and maintenance of facilities, grounds

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Ag Society is bringing back the tastes and aromas of the Flavours of Fall, to be held on Saturday, Oct. 8 at Exhibition Hall.

Organizers are excited to bring in the 30 vendors for everyone to try out the samples of food and drink, after the event had to be cancelled the last two years due to COVID restrictions.

The vendors will include local restaurants, and breweries and distilleries from the area and from around the province.

The event will also feature local entertainment with Richard Beach and the band Switch on the stage, as Flavours will run from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Advance tickets are $20, available at Pharmasave as of Sept. 20, or $25 at the door, with a limited number of tickets to be available.

A feature this year is those who arrive by 9 p.m. will be entered into a draw for a prize.

Barber Motors will be providing a safe ride home this year with a van to ensure everybody gets home safely.

As people arrive, they can buy tokens which they then use to exchange for samples of food and drink at the vendor booths inside Exhibition Hall.

This marks the return of a major fundraiser for the Ag Society, noted committee member Lisa Vick.

“We still need roof repairs, and other facility repairs on the grounds,” she said, pointing out that the Ag Society owns and maintains the hall where the Ag Society office and curling rink are located, along with the Ag Society barn and grandstands, and associated buildings, which all takes a lot of work for the volunteers to keep up.

The facilities host a lot of big events in the city, from the Oil and Gas Show to 4-H events, the Fair, rodeos and demo derbies to name just a few.

“Without funding, the grounds and buildings wouldn’t be maintained as they should be,” said Vick.

The Ag Society still has spots open for sponsors for this event, added Vick, as she noted an event like this can’t go ahead without sponsorship. There are major expenses to put on a show of this size, and the organization would be grateful for any in-kind or monetary donations or sponsorships that might help to stage the event.

Anyone interested in being a sponsor can send an email to [email protected].
