Regina police seize $40,000 currency in drug search, three arrested

REGINA — Search warrants from Regina police last week resulted in the seizure of a large amount of drugs, and the arrest of three B.C. men on drug trafficking and firearm-related charges.

Regina Police executed warrants on two residences last week, resulting in the seizure of a large amount of drugs and three arrests related to illegal drug trafficking within the city.

An investigation by the Regina Police Drug Unit led to the execution of four search warrants on July 21, issued for two vehicles and two residences on the 2100 block of Heselton Road and the 100 block of Froom Crescent.

Police seized approximately 450 grams of cocaine, 225 grams of methamphetamine and fentanyl mixture, and 250 grams of a cutting agent.

A loaded firearm, ammunition, multiple cell phones, digital scales and other evidence supporting drug trafficking were also found, as well as $40,000 in currency.

Three individuals were arrested in connection to the investigation and have been jointly charged.

Azhar Ayman Ahmad, 21, of Surrey, B.C., Akashdeep Bhoot, 24, and Taranvir Singh Sidhu, 23, both of Abbotsford, B.C., are facing several charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and one charge of possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime.

All three men are also facing several firearm charges, including unauthorized possession, possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with, and unsafe storage of a firearm.

Bhoot has also been charged with possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order.

Ahmad, Bhoot and Sidhu made their first appearance in provincial court on July 22.
