The RCMP stopped an eastbound vehicle on Highway One west of Swift Current on the afternoon of Thursday, May 14 for a driver’s licence, vehicle registration and sobriety check.

Since the male in the vehicle was on court conditions, this made him obligated to have his vehicle searched by police.

The two occupants of the vehicle – both male and female – were detained for drug investigations.

Thereafter, a thorough search of the vehicle ensued. The police soon netted 10 grams of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine hidden inside.

David John Glen Pelley (aged 38) and Alexis Allison Helen McKay (aged 30), both of Regina, were charged with possessing cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking. Subsequently, they were also charged with trafficking in cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Immersed in crime, the pair faced numerous weapons and property-related offences.

Not to be outdone in the criminal world, Pelley added five more charges to his name after failing to comply with an undertaking.

Both Pelley and McKay appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court via telephone that afternoon, when they were remanded into custody to rematerialize in court via telephone on May 25 at 9:30 a.m.
