Last week, the provincial government announced minimum wage workers would get a 13-cent-an-hour pay increase in October.
NDP Leader Ryan Meili responded, by dismissing the adjustment as an insult. He pressed the Saskatchewan government to bring relief to frontline workers by substantially raising the minimum wage.听
鈥淭hirteen cents doesn鈥檛 get you very far 鈥� and it doesn鈥檛 help the majority听of families that were already living paycheque to paycheque before COVID-19,鈥� said Meili. 鈥淚t鈥檚 time for the Sask. Party to stop insulting frontline workers with our worst-in-the-nation minimum wage, set aside their broken formula and give frontline workers the raise they deserve.鈥�
Meili believed the government should reconsider their efforts, by raising the provincial minimum wage up to $15 per hour.
