Brenda Louise Dyck May 9, 1961 - March 15, 2011 Precious memories will be forever cherished by Brenda's loving family: husband Randy Dyck; children, Aaron [Courtney] Schell [Owen and Molly], Erica [Jeff] Peters [Tianna, Noah and Brooke], Carlee Dyck and friend Derek Pele; siblings, Agnes [Don] Robinson of Edmonton, Alta., Vivian [Greg] Walliser of Estevan, Mel [Irene] Murray of Estevan, Wendy Lesy of Regina, Tammy [Lloyd] Dobrescu of Moose Jaw, Sask. and Michael [Angela] Murray of Swizterland; in-laws, John and Margaret Dyck of Estevan, Patti [Sean] McClelland of Estevan and Bruce [Keri] Dyck of Saskatoon, Sask., as well as numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. Brenda was predeceased by her parents, Douglas and Mary Murray and brother-in-law Brian Lesy. Brenda was the fourth child of seven for Doug and Mary Murray, and although she only had six short years with her mother, Brenda always missed her very much. This definitely contributed to the strong bond that she had with her own children, Aaron, Erica and Carlee. Aaron and Courtney's wedding and later Jeff and Erica's were highlights along the way and she was thrilled to have another son and daughter in her family. Most recently, she was pleased with her youngest daughter, Carlee's new friend, Derek Pele. Brenda was overjoyed with the arrival of her grandchildren - Tianna, Noah, Owen, Brooke and Molly. She enjoyed all her time with her grandchildren, whether it was snuggling with them for a movie, having a sleepover, reading them a book, or just watching them play in the backyard. After marrying Randy in 1990, Brenda found herself getting involved with her church family - helping with clubs and Caraway Street, as well as taking part in several prayer groups. Her faith grew and her new friendships blossomed - and this became another family in her life. Brenda always had a lot of friends, from her school days, her neighbourhood, her church, her coffee group and work. She valued each relationship and found ways to make each one feel special with a caring, gentle and loving manner. When someone was in need, she knew just what to do - whether it was a home cooked meal, her famous butterhorns, a card, a phone call, help with housework or spring cleaning. Brenda was lovingly nicknamed "Spiffy Dyck" by her daughter for her love of a clean house. Brenda worked part time at Little J's during high school years and later spent twenty-five years working at Ross' Portrait Studio and most recently she enjoyed working in the Dietary Dept. at St. Joseph's Hosptal. Brenda has also helped Randy in the family business since he became an independent distributor for Weston's Bakery in 1996. In 1997, Brenda was diagnosed with breast cancer. She responded well to treatment, but in 2008, the cancer returned. She had treatment once again and enjoyed three more good years with her family, but on March 10 Brenda was admitted to St. Joseph's Hospital and her earthly journey ended March 15, as she was being taken to Regina by ambulance with her husband by her side, the same path her mother had taken forty-four years earlier. She left this world knowing that she tried everything in her power to fight this. Although her death took many of us by surprise, knowing that she didn't suffer long gives us some comfort. A Celebration of Brenda's Life was held on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Estevan Alliance Church with Rev. Christopher Smith officiating. A private family interment followed at the Souris Valley Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Tyler Dobrescu, Taylor Dobrescu, Barry Kuntz, Kevin Ross, Brian Vandermeulen, and Chad Walliser. Donations in Brenda's memory may be made to the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation, Estevan or the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hall Funeral Services, Estevan. In tears we saw you sinking, we watched you fade away, You suffered much in silence, you fought so hard to stay. You faced your task with courage, and still you kept on fighting, until the very end. God saw you getting tired, that a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around you, and whispered, "Come with me." So when we saw you sleeping, so peaceful, free from pain, We could not wish you back, to suffer that again. * * * Thank You Brenda's family would like to thank the staff of Unit A and the nurses in the Chemo Room of St. Joseph's Hospital, the Sun Country Health Ambulance Service, Dr. Tsoi, Dr. Christie, Dr. Salim and the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, Reverend Christopher Smith, Brian and Carol Shauf and the musical group of the Alliance Church, Bob and Trish Duncan for the scriptures, Anita Kuntz for the eulogy, the members of the Alliance Church for the luncheon, and the Ross family and Isobel Pukas for their thoughtful assistance. A heartfelt thank you to everyone that brought food, sent flowers, gave cards, and called with condolences at this difficult time.
