Yorkton Band Camp returns for 2022

Final concert to be held on Friday, July 22.

The Saskatchewan Band Association (SBA) is very pleased to again be hosting the Yorkton Band Camp - dedicated to youth musician development in Saskatchewan.

The Yorkton Band Camp is running from July 17 –22 in Yorkton at the Yorkton Regional Highschool. Participants get to play band all day while also engaging in recreational activities. Julie Atter, a well known and loved band director, is the camp coordinator this year and she is so excited and glad to be able to encourage youth in the Yorkton area to continue learning band throughout the summer.

“We are incredibly excited that the Yorkton Band Camp is continuing after COVID” notes Suzanne Gorman, CEO of the Saskatchewan Band Association. “Given Yorkton’s strong music and band community, it was difficult to see so many band programs and developing musicians impacted over the past few years. We are confident that the Yorkton Band Camp will be a great addition to the work already underway by area schools, band directors and community bands in rebuilding strong band roots in the region.”

A final Band Camp Concert will be held at 3:00pm on Friday, July 22nd in the Anne Portnuff Theatre in the Yorkton Regional High School. Admission to the Band Camp Concert is free, but donations to help offset camp costs are always appreciated.
